Announcing our first keynote: Stephen Bunbury
Keynote announcement
We are honoured to announce our first keynote for Holding the Space: Shining a Light on Black Academics 2026!
Welcoming Stephen Bunbury
Reader (Associate Professor) in Law, University of Westminster
National Teaching Fellow (NTF) | Principal Fellow of Advance HE (PFHEA)
Stephen is no stranger to Holding the Space, having acted as a superb Chair in our inaugural event last year.
Stephen’s work sits at the intersection of race equity, disability justice, academic integrity, and inclusive curriculum and assessment design - central to institutional practice. He is one of the few scholars in UK higher education whose influence and impact span teaching, governance, policy, and everyday academic life.
As Co-Chair of the University’s BME Network and Strategic Lead of the Black History Year Create Programme, Stephen has helped build one of the most impactful sector-facing interventions for Black students and staff in the UK.
We look forward to his keynote, which will speak directly to the 2026 themes of Black Scholarship, Global Futures.
More keynote announcements to follow - and more reasons to stay close to this Substack community as Holding the Space 2026 continues to take shape.
